MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME
A little local knowledge.
Cartwise is an independent golf-cart navigation pilot by Eidos Works.
Cart routes from home
Open a town center to see its places and events. Choose Directions to plan a cart trip from your current location. Home and saved places are available too. Green lines show mapped cart connections; blue is your route. Tap a green path for your start, then another for your destination. Watch preview simulates the trip without using GPS; Start with GPS guides a real trip only when you are near its start.
The regional map includes parts of The Villages from Spanish Springs through Eastport. Coverage is incomplete: some neighborhood streets and connections are missing. An unavailable route does not mean golf carts are prohibited. Driving is an option, never an automatic switch.
Before you ride
Routes have not been checked on the ground. Follow local signs and access rules. Some crossings and roundabouts are excluded. Gaps between a pin and the mapped path are not guided. The route can finish up to 200 m from the destination; check the arrival point before riding.
If you leave the route, stop safely and choose Plan again from here. Keep this page visible for GPS and voice guidance. Have a passenger handle the phone.
Take Cartwise with you
No account needed. An internet connection is needed for maps and routes.
Driving and cart legs
Drive mode provides a road preview and opens Google Maps for driving navigation. Drive + cart uses a pickup point you choose. The app does not verify parking, cart availability, or car access at that point. Car routes must never be followed in a golf cart.
Meetups and your cart
Your cart badge and saved shared-link meetups stay in this browser. Shared links contain a destination, time, note and cart name; anyone with the link can read or forward them, and they remain snapshots. Private groups use a CartWise account: plans, member names and replies are visible only to current members. Planners and organizers can change or cancel a private meetup. Email updates are optional for each meetup and come from CartWise at support@eidos-works.com. Calendar imports can include a reminder, but calendar copies do not follow changes or cancellation. No live GPS location is shared.
Places and events
Area guides combine selected official directory listings with mapped OpenStreetMap places. Event schedules automatically check the official town-center calendars every six hours while the app is open. Last good schedules remain available when a source cannot be refreshed. Details open here; source links are optional. Changes and cancellations may not yet be reflected. Missing business pins route to the named town center, never an invented entrance.
Your outing
Add places and events to My outing, change their order, and plan each leg when you are ready. A preview never marks a stop visited. Event times are rechecked against the current guide; cancelled or unconfirmed events need attention before routing. Your outing stays in this browser and does not sync between devices.
Arrival reports
Reports are saved as unreviewed notes on your device. Share a report with Brent for review. Saving it does not send it, change directions, or verify an entrance. The selected destination and mapped endpoint are included; your current GPS location is not attached.
Your map view
The detailed map uses MapLibre and OpenFreeMap. Choose 3D to see approximate building shapes and look ahead along your route, 2D for a flat north-up view, or Light for fewer graphics. Map detail does not verify cart access. Building heights and coverage vary; these are not photographic models. During guidance, drag to look around and tap Recenter to follow again. Overview shows the whole trip.
Your data
Private group accounts store your name, verified email, secure login records, group memberships, meetup plans, replies and chosen email preferences on the server. Signing out removes private content from this page. Public exploration and trip planning do not require an account.
Home, favorites, recordings, and feedback stay in this browser. Notes and recordings are only sent when you choose to share them. Road previews send their endpoints to FOSSGIS/OSRM, whose service logs route requests. Opening Google Maps sends the selected destination to Google. Map tiles are online. OpenFreeMap supplies detailed maps; OpenStreetMap supplies the lightweight map. Their servers receive requests for the map areas you view and normal connection information. GPS processing and cart routing happen on this device. MapLibre is loaded from the UNPKG software CDN. No live group location is uploaded by these map views. A drive + cart trip is retained for this tab so you can return to it.
Cart routes use a saved OpenStreetMap network. Arrival cards check nearby mapped access daily when connected. These map checks do not verify entrances on the ground or include live closures. OpenStreetMap contributors · ODbL
